The residents of the Town of Newmarket are responsible for the water and sewer service lines that run from inside the home to the “Street line”, or the boundary separating Public vs Town property and responsibility. The Town is responsible for water and sewer service lines from the “Street line” to the public main. When a service line breaks, leaks or clogs on private property, the resident is responsible for the repairs and as these services are underground, it could cost thousands of dollars. Typically Homeowner insurance policies do not cover these repair costs.
